COMMUNITY PILLARS

PCRC aims to build a strong community by reducing violence, boosting civic involvement, and enhancing resilience.

This will be achieved through collaboration among four key community pillars.

  • Neighborhoods

PCRC believes that neighborhoods will become vibrant by resolving conflict, advocating for more resources, and increasing the community members’ civic and neighborhood engagement and safety.

Neighborhood interventions include youth development, Parent Project, AOD harm reduction, and community education programs, including Mental Health First Aid and Parent Leadership Academy.

  • Schools

When students, their families, school staff, and faculty all acquire the essential restorative practice tools, the result is nothing short of transformative. These tools enable the cultivation of empathy, conflict resolution, and active communication within the educational ecosystem. As a ripple effect, they foster vibrant communities where trust and understanding thrive. Restorative practices empower individuals to take responsibility for their actions and promote healing and growth over punishment. In such environments, not only do academic achievements soar, but the overall well-being of all involved flourishes, making our schools and communities truly places of growth, support, and harmony.

  • Jails

Based on PCRC’s many years of experience working in our local jails and juvenile hall, PCRC understands the value of working with justice involved individuals is essential to supporting a vibrant community. We strongly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn conflict transformational skills regardless of their location. By working with them and their families on critical communication and de-escalation skills and supporting jail staff, PCRC intends to create pathways to for empathy and respect. This will enable justice involved individuals and those who transition back into society as productive members of the community.

  • Workplaces

In thriving workplaces, effective leadership and communication serve as the bedrock for success. When these principles are combined with a genuine embrace and celebration of diversity, the outcome transcends the office walls. Such environments not only boost productivity and employee satisfaction but also spill over into the broader community, promoting inclusivity, innovation, and social harmony. Vibrant communities are born when the lessons of respect, collaboration, and appreciation for differences learned at work permeate throughout society, creating a more vibrant and cohesive world for all.
